Change your differential oil at intervals according to the vehicle manufacturer's recommendations. This usually means every 20,000 miles for driving in severe conditions such as:
- hot weather
- mountainous terrain
- with trailer towing
- stop-and-go traffic
Additional demands placed on the differential will create extra heat and this heat will wear out differential oil sooner than normal. For normal driving, which excludes conditions listed above, change your differential oil every 40,000 miles.
